Cultural Licensing Fair draws exhibitors from 20 countries

The National Base for International Cultural Trade and the National Copyright Trading Center, both in Shanghai Free Trade Zone, will jointly hold the 4th China Cultural Licensing Fair from September 20 to 22.

Cross-industry digital licensing is the theme of this year’s fair which has attracted about 200 first-rate cultural products from 20 countries, including the US, UK, France and Japan.

The fair will display Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales, Teddy Bear designs, works of ToriDesign and willDream, and Chinese intangible heritages such as Xinjiang embroidery, Longquan celadon wares, Yiwu paper-cuts, Jinshan peasant paintings, and Gaoqiao wool tapestries.

Road shows and seminars will be held during the three-day fair. Ten artists from Oriental DreamWorks, a Shanghai joint venture between DreamWorks Animation and Chinese companies, will talk about the fusion of cultural and creative industries as a trend.

The base and the center both serve as a trading platform for designers, artists, authors, buyers and licensing agencies, said one of the fair organizers.
